I had my first scary mommy moment yesterday. My mom came up and stayed with me for the week while Justin was out of town. When it was time for her to go, Phoebe was down for a nap and I walked her out to her car. Now our door handle has been broken for a while and we have been meaning to fix it but just never have because we use our garage to go in and out and have forgotten about it. So yesterday I walked her out of the front door and closed it behind me. We said our goodbyes and I walk back to the front door to go back in and the door won't open. I start pulling on the door handle and it comes off but the door won't open. I WAS LOCKED OUT OF OUR HOUSE AND OUR DAUGHTER WAS INSIDE BY HERSELF TAKING A NAP! Talk about the scariest moment in my life. I started yelling for my mom and freaking out not knowing what to do. We decided that I would go to the backyard and I would climb through our doggy door. Still freaking out I run to our gates only to find out that they are LOCKED! This is where I start freaking out even more. I try climbing the fence and realize that I am not a climber. My mom starts saying "lets break a window". Well our windows are double pane and needless to say it is impossible to break when you have nothing to use. I finally had my mom bring her car to the gate and I climbed on her car and started climbing over the fence. When I jumped over, or should I say rolled over, I landed on my bottom. I thought I broke my tailbone but the only thing running through my mind was getting to Phoebe. I get to the doggy door and pre-baby I could fit through perfectly. Post baby I had to squeeze myself through and when I say squeeze I mean trying to get an egg to fit inside of a bottle. I got through and Phoebe was safe and sound.
It was the scariest moment in my life and it only lasted about 10 minutes but felt like an eternity. At the time I could not laugh about it but now looking back I can laugh because I am sure I looked like a crazy woman in my front yard. Needless to say...we fixed our door handle. I hope no mommy's out there have to experience something like this.
Oh and Justin wanted me to post a picture of Phoebe in her 4th of July outfit with her hat on. He picked it out and just loved it...

Oh my gosh, I can't even imagine how petrified you were! I'm so glad you got in alright and didn't rip your knee open on the fence again...that would have been a disaster!
ReplyDeletePhoebe just keeps getting cuter and cuter, really!
